FitzBilleh! Message Board

Wed 28th April

... and on a side note I am trying to add every geeky feature possible; rss, twitter, qr code, anything I have missed?

The email addy is nice isn't it FitzBilleh Smilie And yes the sculpting is a webcam/laser pointer 3D scanner...

The site structure is not editable online but is all kind of database driven - except it uses the file structure instead of a database. If I upload a picture with the right name format it is automatically added to the gallery which corresponds to that folder. It also looks for a text file with the description and displays that...

The RSS and latest content pages pages are totally automatic too...

New 65dos album on spotify

And Laser sculpting? Is that playing with your lasers and a webcam?

Alex - 16:35 - 195.112.2.127
I just noticed the way you encoded your email address rich. Simple and effective, I like FitzBilleh Smilie

QR barcode is nice too.

Does that PHP site have a backend to edit pages or is it all in files?

user posted imageThe favicon was going to be that but I decided an animated one would be annoying... The current one is just a still of that.

And re:twitterfeed.com I feed my blog and site into facebook and twitter...

cr42yr1ch - 13:20 - 129.67.82.137
What is your favicon all about btw?

ddddd - 13:03 - 131.111.185.38
v nice site Rich - had not noticed the text shadow until Lex mentioned it - but generally is easy to navigate and looks good. great work

phil - 12:01 - 193.82.52.4
So you feed your twitter into facebook?

Alex - 11:52 - 195.112.2.127
I need to make a portfolio and self site sometime too. Useful to put things like personal wikis on etc too.

Alex - 10:55 - 195.112.2.127
btw if you dont know about it http://twitterfeed.com/ is pretty handy; rss-->twitter and facebook...

cr42yr1ch - 10:52 - 129.67.82.137
Well given you like it I'll open it up to the world... I hope it doesn't get hacked too quickly, there is quite a lot of custom php in it so there are probably some code injection points...

Minimalism gives quick load times! It does fall apart a bit when the css features aren't supported though, it looks pretty ugly in ie6...

cr42yr1ch - 10:50 - 129.67.82.137
Sweet site rich!

I see you've found some CSS3 like text shadow FitzBilleh Smilie

It looks very good and is nice and fast - quick page loads and it looks really pretty!

I didn't know you had a blog either, some really cool stuff on there! I just don't get how you have the time for all that stuff FitzBilleh Smilie

Alex - 10:21 - 195.112.2.127
I only found out you had a blog very recently, now you have a site! Is nice FitzBilleh Smilie

I preordered new 65dos album btw, comes with an audio teaser - is nice FitzBilleh Smilie

So who wants to test out a website? Looking for bugs, broken links and typos.

This is the secret way in until I take down the under construction notice...
richardwheeler.net

Btw I know lots of the pages don't pass html validation, I'm on it!

Yeah I used a mootools slideshow with my joomla sites (as they come with mootools already and there is a joomla extension that wraps it all up nicely)

The script is well documented, and very easy to edit buttons and stuff with the CSS.

Alex - 09:22 - 195.112.2.127
so lex, you do a lot of web dev stuff... do you have a dead simple js slideshow template script? I could use one!

Yeah I looked at buying one, and then decided I'll wait until I get a whole new PC.

To be honest though, since I stopped playing WoW I've hardly used my desktop - preferring my media PC or Flo's laptop instead. So in that regard I didn't wait to spend hundreds of pounds on a new computer now, I'll just wait a few months to a year and buy a whole new desktop and plug my newish graphics card and optical drives into that

Alex - 11:06 - 195.112.2.127
Ouch. You hanging on till SS comes down in price?

So my hard drive in my desktop gave up. Part of a raid 0 array. bummer.

Guess I'll reformat the other one and do a clean install.
