hold on, i should have given you details - 7pm in the basement of the english dept. -check out the
facebook group for more details
I realise this is short notice, but there's a good reason - so I am going to be in a play this Wednesday evening, it's only 15 minutes long, i only have one line, and it's part of an evening of short pieces which will probably take 2-3 hours in total. Essentially, it's probably not worth coming, but now you can't say 'why didn't you tell us?'
The main thing linking me to firefox is zotero, which is the best bibliographic/citation software I have ever used, but is fundamentally a firefox plugin...
I saw the speed comparison on LH (also saw
this) and it made me realise that I need to make the change - 6 seconds for a cold start is shocking!
I think the reason why I've stuck with ff till now is the dev community (same reason I insisted on winamp till recently). So many addons, skins, scripts etc. makes it the browser you want it to be.
Guess I'll move to Opera.
I also like chromes resizable message boxes, like this input here on fitzbilleh I can make much bigger with a click drag on the bottom right corner
Just noticed that
Javascriptspeed comparison
Javascript speed and load times are the main benefit of chrome to me.
Firefox still has the best extensions, though now chrome and opera have a firebug type module built in natively for web development (not quite as featured, but lightweight)
i'm still on firefox mainly because of adblock - I didn't know chrome had one, I was going to try out chrome when it first came out but gave up when I realised there was no adblock feature/extension.
What are the other benefits of chrome/chromium? I quite like a lot of the other firefox plugins- Tab Mix, studio boost for fb, Browse-by-gestures (not that it works in firefox 3.6 yet!)
What browsers are you guys using now?
If it is firefox, what is keeping you there?
I'm still on firefox at home as I like greasemonkey on facebook and noscript.
At work I've been using chrome since they launched extensions like adblock. I had chromium (open source chrome without googles beady eyes) instead for a while but it crashed a lot.
I'm thinking of trying opera 10.5 as it looks good, and opera on my phone has always been good to me.
